Research
Overview

SCELSE has eight core themes that highlight the interdisciplinary nature of the Centre’s research, many of which are integrated across multiple research clusters. These themes deliver biological insights and concepts, and identify commonalities applicable to any ecosystem, as well as generate specific knowledge for translational outcomes. Specifically, this core research involves SCELSE’s original flagship theme of the uban water cycle, along with the themes of synthetic microbial ecology and experimental biofilm communities; bioprocessing; air and marine microbiomes; host microbiome interactions; public health & medicine; and biofilm detection & control.
