Dr Lindsey Kane DEIGNAN
Research Fellow
Biofilm Biology cluster, SCELSE

Dr Lindsey Kane Deignan has joined SCELSE as a research fellow and will be working with Dr Diane McDougald in the Microbial Biofilms cluster. Prior to joining SCELSE, she obtained her PhD in Marine Biology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. For her dissertation, she examined sponge communities on Caribbean reefs, specifically their fine-scale spatial and genetic distribution. She also studied the effect of disease on the microbial communities of sponges. Her work at SCELSE will examine coral reef ecology and microbiology similar to the work that she had conducted during her PhD research. However, at SCELSE, her research will focus on the corals from reef surrounding Singapore, with the goal of understanding how their microbial ecology is influencing their survival and distribution.
