Prof Guillermo BAZAN
Visiting Professor
University of California, Santa Barbara, USA

Professor Guillermo Bazan's research interests include molecular design and synthesis of innovative, functional materials for applications in organic electronics (including, for example, conjugated small molecules and polymers for organic photovoltaics, field-effect transistors, diodes, and thermoelectrics), bioelectrochemical devices, as well as industrially relevant polymer chemistry. He became a Professor of Chemistry at the University of California, Santa Barbara. A year later he joined the faculty of the Department of Materials (Engineering) and in June 2000, he became the Director of the Center for Polymers and Organic Solids. He has over 490 publications, an h-index of 82, and his work has been recognised by the Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award of the American Chemical Society and the Bessel Award of the Humboldt Foundation. He is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
