Dr Kesava Priyan RAMASAMY
Research Fellow

Dr Kesava Priyan joined SCELSE as a research fellow under A/Prof. Diane McDougald. Prior to joining SCELSE, he worked as a project fellow at the National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, India. He has also studied the functional diversity of marine fungi in the Arabian Sea and coral associated fungi in Lakshadweep Island (India). Kesava completed his PhD at the University of Camerino, Italy. His research background focused on environmental adaptation and stress response of an Antarctic psychrophilic ciliate and its associated bacterial consortium. In SCELSE, he will be studying the interaction of bacterial biofilms and heterotrophic protists. He is also interested in investigating the adaptive mechanisms of bacteria to stresses, including interactions with higher organisms.
