Dr GOH Hwee Mian Sharon
Research Fellow

Dr Goh’s current research involves the study of mono-microbial biofilms in vitro and in vivo as well as developing novel environmental and animal model systems to investigate the role and impact of multiple species on one another within poly-microbial biofilms. Large-scale genomic and sequencing techniques will be employed to study the expression profiles of these bacterial communities. As the behaviour of each species is radically altered in mixed communities compared to single species biofilms, Sharon hopes to understand the genetic programmes that underlie mono- and poly-microbial biofilm formation in two commonly occurring biofilm niches, ultimately providing a deeper understanding in poly-microbial interactions that contribute to catheter-associated urinary tract infections.
