Asst. Prof. Aakrosh Ratan graduated from Pennsylvania State University in Prof. Webb Miller’s lab where he attained his PhD in Computer Science and his thesis focused on development of assembly algorithms for next-generation of sequencing datasets.
Aakrosh joined the Department of Public Health Sciences at University of Virginia (UVA), USA as an Assistant Professor in 2014, where he is a resident faculty in the Center for Public Health Genomics, and his research is focused on study of genome variation and genetic diversity. His research entwines genetics and genomics techniques with computer science to develop new ways of gaining insight into genome biology, genetic basis of traits and evolution.
