Dr Loo Poh Leong

Dr Loo Poh Leong has joined SCELSE as a research fellow under the supervision of Prof Stefan Wuertz in the Environmental Engineering cluster. He specialises in live feed production, aquaculture nutrition, and feed formulation using waste-grown microorganisms and invertebrates. SCELSE will be collaborating with Aquaculture Innovation Centre (AIC), Temasek Polytechnic, where Poh Leong will be focusing on research about aquaculture nutrition and feed formulation using food-processing wastewater. He received his PhD (Aquaculture Biotechnology) from University of Malaya. Prior to joining SCELSE, Poh Leong was a principal investigator and research fellow at National University of Singapore, and a resident scientist at St. John’s Island National Marine Laboratory, Singapore. He has led an aquaculture project on microbial-based systems for sustainable aquaculture and food security and successfully completed several marine science and mariculture projects. Additionally, he is a Responsible Care and Use of Fish (RCUF) certified researcher.
