Environmental Engineering cluster, SCELSE-NTU

Dr Loo Poh Leong is a SCELSE research fellow in the Environmental Engineering cluster, under the supervision of Prof. Stefan Wuertz. He specialises in live feed production, aquaculture nutrition, and feed formulation using waste-grown microorganisms and invertebrates. SCELSE is collaborating with the Aquaculture Innovation Centre (AIC), Temasek Polytechnic, where Poh Leong’s research focuses on aquaculture nutrition and feed formulation using single cell protein derived from food-processing wastewater. He received his PhD (aquaculture biotechnology) from University of Malaya, Malaysia. Prior to joining SCELSE, Poh Leong was a principal investigator and research fellow at National University of Singapore, and a resident scientist at St John’s Island National Marine Laboratory, Singapore. He has led an aquaculture project on microbial-based systems for sustainable aquaculture and food security and successfully completed several marine science and mariculture projects.
