Dr Woo Yissue is a SCELSE research fellow in the Environmental Engineering cluster, under Prof Stefan Wuertz’s supervision. He specialises in microbiology in water sources, disinfection of microorganisms in water environments, and the analysis of microbial communities in environments. Yissue was previously a PhD student and research assistant at SCELSE, working on nitrifying microorganisms in drinking water distribution. His highlighted works include formulating a reproducible approach to enrichment ammonia-oxidizing Archaea selectively from sources mixed with ammonia-oxidizing Bacteria, and the outcome of monochloramine disinfection on nitrifiers in drinking water.
