Foo Kiong joined SCELSE as a Research Assistant under Prof Kimberly Kline’s supervision in the Biofilms & Health cluster. He is trained in various microbiological, molecular and cell culture techniques, with a focus on unravelling aspects of host-pathogen interactions in bacteria of public health importance. His current work explores how the regulation of bacterial virulence factors and metabolic function impacts host colonization and infection. He also contributed to research projects in which the team examined how a bacterial secondary metabolite shaped polymicrobial interactions and characterized features of bacterial internalization and replication within host cells.
