Associate Professor / Full Professor in Medical Biofilms & Public Health
The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), College of Science, together with the Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE), at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore), invite applicants with an international reputation in both education and research in Medical Biofilms and Public Health, to apply for the position, which will be based full-time in Singapore. This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership in an internationally leading academic and research organization.
The successful applicant will hold a faculty position at SBS and serve as a Principal Investigator at SCELSE. The successful candidate should possess a relevant Ph.D. degree in Microbiology-Immunology (or equivalent) from a reputable university, be a creative and internationally prominent scientist with an interest in microbial biofilms and microbiomes of relevance to human health and disease, demonstrate ability to obtain and manage large research grants and have a strong track record and commitment in teaching and research related to medical biofilms and public health. Expertise in fields such as host-microbiome biology, molecular microbiology, and/or microbial chemical biology will be relevant for the position.
Responsibilities
The successful applicant is expected to:
· Establish a globally recognised research programme in Medical Biofilms and Public Health, specifically exploring mechanisms of biofilm biology for microbial population as well as communities and develop methods for biofilm control in line with the research strategy of SBS and SCELSE.
· Enhance SCELSE’s visibility as an international leader in research and education on bacterial biofilms and their impact on public health.
· Actively collaborate with faculty and researchers with existing strengths in the research domains of SBS, SCELSE and NTU.
· Obtain extramural research funding.
· Contribute to, support and develop teaching and educational activity at undergraduate level and teach undergraduate and graduate classes at SBS.
· Supervise and/or mentor research staff and students.
