As of 15 May 2024, Associate Professor Shu-Sin Chng has been appointed as the new Associate Director of SCELSE at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He will succeed Professor Hsu Li Yang in this esteemed role.
With this appointment, Assoc Prof Chng will support and extend the full range of SCELSE activities within NUS, to fulfil SCELSE’s mission. His wealth of experience and a strong research background, especially in elucidating the mechanisms of cell envelope biogenesis and inter-membrane lipid trafficking in Gram-negative bacteria and mycobacteria, make him an excellent fit for this role.
Assoc Prof Chng has also earned numerous accolades, including the 2018 NUS Faculty of Science Young Scientist Award and the 2019 ASBMB Walter Shaw Young Investigator Award in Lipid Research.
“I feel extremely honoured to be appointed the NUS Associate Director for SCELSE, and I look forward to bringing new ideas to the table, and working closely with Professor Alain Filloux to integrate SCELSE research activities across both host universities NTU and NUS,” said Assoc Prof Chng.
We look forward to the innovative contributions and leadership that Associate Professor Chng will bring to SCELSE in his new role.
