Academic publishing plays a crucial role in disseminating research, yet many early-career researchers are unfamiliar with how the industry operates and how it connects to their careers. This session provides an introduction to the academic publishing landscape, including an overview of Springer Nature, the Nature Portfolio journals, key industry trends and challenges. In addition, we will explore career paths beyond academia for PhD holders, with insights from Springer Nature members who have transitioned into diverse roles within the publishing industry. Their experiences will offer valuable perspectives on how researchers can leverage their skills in new and impactful ways.
