Dr Binu Kundukad is a senior research fellow at SCELSE under Prof Staffan Kjelleberg’s supervision in the Biofilm Biology cluster. She specialises in biophysics, rheology, and microfluidics and is interested in viewing biofilms and biofilm matrix from a physics perspective to understand how the mechanical properties of biofilm matrix contribute to emergent properties. She is also interested in using biophysical approaches to detect/control/ prevent biofilms. She was awarded a PhD in physics at the National University of Singapore in 2010 and undertook her post-doctoral research at the Singapore MIT Alliance for Research and Technology. Her highlighted works include the study of the mechanical properties of biofilms and the mechanistic action of drugs on biofilms.
