Dr Elena Gusareva is a Senior Research Fellow at the Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE), working under the supervision of Prof Stephan Schuster in the Meta-’omics & Microbiomes cluster. Her research focuses on the diversity and dynamics of airborne microbial communities globally, with an emphasis on understanding its implications for human health and environmental systems.
Dr Gusareva holds a PhD in Immunology from the Third Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, where she specialized in the genetics of allergic diseases. Over the course of her career, she has developed a strong multidisciplinary profile, combining expertise in biomedical sciences, genetics, biostatistics, and bioinformatics. She further expanded her computational and analytical skill set during her postdoctoral training in bioinformatics at the University of Liège, Belgium.
Her work integrates high-throughput sequencing, metagenomics, and data-driven approaches to investigate complex biological systems at the interface of environmental and human health.
