Dr. Irvan Luhung joined SCELSE as a Research Fellow within the Air Microbiome research team under the supervision of Prof. Stephan Schuster. His main expertise is in the development of ultra-low biomass sampling and analysis pipeline which allows for robust investigations of the indoor and outdoor air microbiome through metagenomics. Dr. Irvan was also trained in the Singapore-Berkeley collaborative research program (SinBerBEST) that emphasized on healthy building engineering and ventilation system operation. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit Singapore, Irvan was heavily involved in research projects that studied the spread of airborne SARS-CoV-2 in highly occupied indoor spaces in Singapore, as well as the evaluation of multiple viral exposure mitigation approaches.
