Dr Mark Veleba

Dr Mark Veleba is a research fellow in the Biofilms & Health cluster. He received his PhD in Medicine from Queen’s University Belfast, focusing on antibiotic resistance in Enterobacteriaceae, and now works at SCELSE on varied research, from prophage function to in vivo adaptation of pathogenic bacteria. He is also a frequent collaborator with other groups at NTU and in Singapore, working on projects including host stress response to in vivo wound infection and tRNA modifications in biofilm. He specialises in molecular microbiology and primarily works with Enterococcus faecalis strains and in vivo mouse models, for which he administers ethics protocols. He is currently supervised by A/Prof Kevin Pethe at NTU and Prof Kimberly Kline, University of Geneva, Switzerland.
