Dr Mark Veleba

Dr. Mark joined SCELSE as a research fellow in Assoc. Prof Kimberly Kline’s Group in the Public Health cluster. He received his PhD in Medicine from Queen’s University Belfast, focusing on antibiotic resistance in Enterobacteriaceae, and now works at SCELSE on varied research, from prophage function to in vivo adaptation of pathogenic bacteria. He is also a frequent collaborator with other groups at NTU and in Singapore, working on projects including host stress response to in vivo wound infection and tRNA modifications in biofilm. He specializes in molecular microbiology and primarily works with Enterococcus faecalis strains and in vivo mouse models, for which he administers ethics protocols. He is currently supervised by Assoc. Prof Kevin Pethe at NTU and Prof. Kline in Geneva, CH.
