Dr Sheela Reuben is a senior research fellow at SCELSE under Prof Patricia Conway’s supervision in the Biofilm Biology cluster. She completed her PhD in Biological Sciences from National University of Singapore. Her postdoctoral research work involved water microbiology with translational projects in bioremediation and phytoremediation. In a previous research project, she was engaged in understanding the clinical prognosis in treatment of Guillain Barre Syndrome, an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks the peripheral nerves. At SCELSE, her research work is mainly focused on gut microbiome and its relationship with other organ systems. She is deeply passionate in translating microbiome science, understanding its mechanisms and utilising the knowledge for everyday living. To this end, she is open to facilitating collaborations with academia, industry and ecosystem partners.
