Dr Tan Wee Boon is a research fellow in the Biofilms & Health cluster, working with A/Prof Chng Shu Sin at National University of Singapore. He completed his undergraduate studies in microbiology at the Ohio State University before undertaking his PhD with SCELSE-NUS, which involved understanding the molecular function of a conserved protein system in Gram-negative bacteria important for outer membrane lipid homeostasis (Tol-Pal). Wee Boon’s current focus is on using molecular genetics and biochemical approaches to understand the fundamentals of bacterial cell envelope.
