Dr Wilfried Moreira

Dr Wilfried Moreira is a senior research fellow in A/Prof. Yann Boucher’s research group at SCELSE-NUS. He is a molecular microbiologist by training with more than 10 years of experience in antimicrobial resistance research. In SCELSE, he leads projects aiming to isolate bacteriophages targeting gut microbes. His research interests include the identification of novel and vulnerable resistance pathways in pathogenic bacteria, as well as the study and engineering of bacteriophage. He developed a phage isolation and engineering platform and he is the principal investigator on several competitive research grants looking at isolating and characterising phages from different environments. He previously held an appointment as senior research fellow at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS, and prior to that he acted as director for research of the Antimicrobial Resistance Program at the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) centre.
