Dr Zhang Dong is a SCELSE research fellow in the Biofilm Biology cluster, working under the supervision of Dr Stephen Summers. At SCELSE, his research primarily revolves around investigating microbiomes associated with microplastics. He will be involved in a deep-sea research cruise project in 2024, studying microbiomes associated with microplastics found in the depths of the ocean. Dr Zhang Dong obtained his PhD in civil and environmental engineering from the National University of Singapore. During his doctoral studies, his research focused on the isolation, characterisation, and ecological dynamics of freshwater cyanophages.
