Dr Zhang Dong has recently joined SCELSE as a research fellow, working under the supervision of Dr Stephen Summers. He is currently a member of the Biofilm Biology cluster, collaborating closely with Dr Summers. At SCELSE, his research primarily revolves around investigating microbiomes associated with microplastics. Furthermore, he will be involved in a deep-sea research cruise project, studying microbiomes associated with microplastics found in the depths of the ocean. Dr Zhang Dong obtained his PhD in civil and environmental engineering from the National University of Singapore. During his doctoral studies, his research focused on the isolation, characterisation, and ecological dynamics of freshwater cyanophages.
