Hana Marican joined SCELSE as a research assistant in 2018, and has recently been promoted to research associate. She works under Dr Stephen Summers supervision in the Biofilm Biology cluster. She specialises in marine microbiology, and is currently working on a commercially funded project on biodegradable plastics in the marine environment. Her interests lie in marine ecology, and the marine microbiome. Prior to joining SCELSE, Hana undertook her Masters in University Science Malaysia specializing in secondary metabolites extracted from marine soft corals in the Indo-Pacific region. She enjoys travelling especially to countries with beautiful beaches and amazing marine life.
