Prof Bazan is well known for his work in molecular architectures with optoelectronic properties, including bioelectronic devices and pioneering innovagtions in bioanalytical sciences. He holds numerous patents, has founded five startup companies and has extensive expertise in biodetection technologies.

Prof Bazan holds joint appointments at NTU’s School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology and as a Provost’s Chair Professor, Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Materials Chemistry at NUS, and is the director, Institute for Digital Molecular Analytics & Science (IDMxS), NTU.

Research interests

• Synthesis of organic conjugated molecules with architectures that optimise optoelectronic performance.
• Living materials that interface microbial metabolisms with charge transporting synthetic gels.
• New optical probes that are specific to lipid bilayer membrane properties.
