Exploring collaboration and bridging research and real-world impact – these and more were achieved as SCELSE welcomed Prof Claus Felby, Senior Vice President, Biotech, and colleagues from Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF) delegation for a meaningful exchange. The visit showcased excellence in research at Nanyang Technological University Singapore and SCELSE.
SCELSE research focuses on the microbiome in environment & health, sustainable development goals, the biocircular economy, biofilms, and antimicrobial resistance, highlighting opportunities to offer microbial solutions to many of the current global challenges. SCELSE capabilities & facilities that underpin our biofilm & microbiome research were also showcased:
• Advanced Biofilm Imaging Facility – Dr Yong Hwee FOO
• Bioreactor Facility – Dr Ezequiel Santillan
• High-throughput Sequencing Facility – Prof Stephan C. Schuster and Ms Justine Dacanay
Sincere thanks to our researchers for sharing their cutting-edge work, and to the NTU and SCELSE teams for organising this visit.
“Engaging with the Novo Nordisk Foundation allows us to exchange perspectives on how fundamental research on biofilm and microbiome can be translated into real-world solutions—from environmental sustainability to human health. These dialogues are essential as we shape the future of science together, ” said Prof Alain Filloux, SCELSE Centre Director.
