Ananya Verma is a PhD student in SCELSE’s Biofilm Biology cluster, supervised by A/Prof Rebecca Case. Her research investigates how bacterial interactions with microalgae can enhance protein, lipid, and vitamin production—advancing vegan nutrition and sustainable food solutions.
Ananya holds a BTech in Biotechnology from Amity University Mumbai and a BSc in Data Science and Applications from IIT Madras. She combines wet-lab skills with coding fluency and is adept in data visualization, cloud systems, and animation tools. Her past projects span antimicrobial drug design with generative AI, miRNA therapeutics for Zika, molecular modeling in cancer, and environmental biotech innovations—from food waste conversion to meat analogues. She has also worked on omics analysis, nanobiosensors, and biomethanation. Ananya’s passion lies in uniting biotech, data science, and AI to tackle global health and environmental challenges—translating complex science into real-world impact.
